About Ailsa Birkett

My role in Novum is all about providing a brilliant and memorable experience for the participants in our programmes. Behind the scenes that means understanding the organisations and people we work with and linking our programmes to their needs through exceptional design and delivery.

What matters most to me

I believe that everyone has the capacity to make changes to what they do and how they do it

How my work aligns or connects with this

My role as a coach tutor is to help coaches to be able to bring out that potential in others, whether that be as their manager, team leader or as an independent coach.

My ideal weekend

Would always involve activity, usually golf, running, walking or cycling and sometimes all of those. I am lucky to live in arguably England’s most beautiful county with countryside and coast easily accessible, history everywhere and some of the finest views from golf courses anywhere.

My favourite film

‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’, specifically the version where they end up fighting in Lindisfarne Castle.

My favourite quote

From the poem Alumnus Football by Grantland Rice, “For when the One Great Scorer comes to mark against your name, he writes not that you won or lost but how you played the game”.

My favourite view

Is from a train and is the sight of Durham Castle and Cathedral as you approach Durham from the South, even better if it is sunrise or sunset.

The motto I live by is…

‘It’ll be alright’, I am the ever eternal optimist.
